In a major boost to women cricketers, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to introduce a uniform payment structure at the domestic level. During its Apex Council meeting on Monday, it was decided that in senior women’s domestic tournaments, players featuring in the final XI will receive Rs. 50,000 per day, while reserves will earn Rs. 25,000 per day.

Revised Match Fees Across Formats and Age Groups

For T20 matches at the senior level, players in the playing XI will receive Rs. 25,000 per match, while reserves will earn Rs. 12,500. In junior women’s tournaments, the playing XI will be paid Rs. 25,000 per day and reserves Rs. 12,500 per day. For junior T20 matches, the fees will be Rs. 11,500 for players in the XI and Rs. 6,250 for reserves.

Impact on Women’s Cricket and Comparison with Men’s Pay

In an effort to further develop women’s cricket, the BCCI believes that increasing match fees will attract more cricketers to the sport. While this marks a significant rise for the women’s game, there remains a noticeable gap between men’s and women’s pay structures. Currently, the BCCI pays men Rs. 60,000 per day for players with more than 40 Ranji matches, Rs. 50,000 for those with 21–40 matches, and Rs. 40,000 for players with 20 or fewer matches, with reserves earning Rs. 30,000, Rs. 25,000, and Rs. 20,000 respectively.
