Abhishek Sharma Backs His Teammates
jeetbuzz168-liveThe left-hander — who scored a breezy 35 in the third T20I — backed both batters to make telling contributions ahead of the upcoming 2026 T20 World Cup.
India opener Abhishek Sharma is not worried about the dip in form that has affected Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav.
Confidence in Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav
“I’ll tell you one thing straight away. Trust me, Suryakumar and Shubman will win matches for India in the World Cup, and matches before the World Cup as well. I’ve played with them for so long, especially with Shubman. I know where Shubman can excel, in what conditions, irrespective of the opponent. I have full trust in him. Very soon, everyone else will gain that trust in him too,” Abhishek, who scored a fluent 35 in the third T20I against South Africa on Sunday, said in the post-match press conference.
Aiden Markram Surprised by Low-Scoring Match
South Africa captain Aiden Markram stated that he was surprised the match turned out to be a low-scoring affair.
“Everything took us by surprise. It looked like a good batting wicket. The Indian team felt the same, as did Ravi Shastri at the toss. We did not expect it to do that much. It was challenging, but you have to have a plan to try and get a competitive score. Ultimately, we were 20–30 runs short,” Markram said.
